SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
ORI Reel Fest will be held September 20-22, 2024, and streamed from September 20, 2024 - October 6, 2024. All Official Selections will play during both the live and virtual segments of the festival. Submission requirements and eligibility criteria are below.

Required Submission Materials for All Films

Each submission includes the following:

CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
Narrative Features
A competitive section for feature-length films. A competitive section for nonfiction feature films. Any narrative or non-scripted work of fiction with a running time of 72 minutes or more (max 128 including credits). In order to qualify Narrative Feature Film, the submitted project must be either scripted or improvisational fiction, or a fictionalization of actual events.

Eligibility Criteria:

Films must have a 72-minute minimum runtime.

Entrants must be 18 yrs. or older.

Open to U.S. and international entries.

Films must be submitted by its Director, or an individual or company authorized by the Director and writer (if applicable) to submit the film.

Films must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles.

Films must have completed post-production on or after January 1, 2023.

Films with prior distribution or a distribution commitment are not eligible for this section.
DocumentaryFeatures
A competitive section for nonfiction feature films. Any nonfiction film with a running time of 60 minutes or more. If your documentary contains re-enactments or other fictionalized depictions of actual events, you may submit it to this category, but ORI Reel will ultimately decide which of our Festival programs is best suited for your project, if accepted.

Eligibility Criteria:

Films must have a 60-minute minimum runtime.​

Entrants must be 18 yrs. or older.

Open to U.S. and international entries.

Films must be submitted by its Director, or an individual or company authorized by the Director and writer (if applicable) to submit the film.

Films must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles.

Films must have completed post-production on or after January 1, 2023.

Films with prior distribution or a distribution commitment are not eligible for this section.
Series
A competitive section for episodic series. Any live-action, documentary/nonfiction, or animation project presented in or intended to be presented in a multi-episode format. This includes pilots, pilot presentations, webseries, docuseries, limited series, anthologies, or any other film or video project that was created to unfold over multiple episodes. Episodic projects can be submitted in single or multiple episodes of the same project, as long as all episodes play continuously in one single video file for digital upload and do not exceed 10GB in size. We accept both short-form and long-form content, with no restrictions regarding minimum or maximum episode or series length (*see below for max runtime).

Eligibility Criteria:

Episodes must have a 30-minute maximum runtime inclusive of credits.

Submissions must include one (1) episode and the series treatment and or bible for consideration.

Entrants must be 18 yrs. or older.​

Films must be submitted by its Director, or an individual or company authorized by the Director and writer (if applicable) to submit the film.

Competition is open to U.S. and international entries in the English language or containing English-language subtitles.

Episodes must have completed principal photography on or after January 1, 2023.
-
Films with prior distribution or a distribution commitment are not eligible for this section.
Short Film
A competitive section for short-form narrative films.
​
Eligibility Criteria:
-
20 minutes maximum runtime inclusive of credits.
-
Entrants must be 18 years old or older.
-
​Showcase is open to U.S. and international entries.
-
Films must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles.
-
Films must have completed post-production on or after January 1, 2023.
-
Films must be submitted by its Director, or an individual or company authorized by the Director and writer (if applicable) to submit the film.
-
Films must not have any current or any previous broadcast, cable, or online exhibition.
Special Category
A competitive section for films that encompass Urban Cinema or highlight the prohibition period in the United States and fit one of the following themes: Time-Traveling Tales or Legends Unveiled. - These films should tell the unique stories of the period or be based on key historical figures of that time.
