KING RAY TUCKER

MY STORY

Rayshard, also known as King Ray Tucker, is a multifaceted individual—a dedicated artist, husband, father, enthusiastic traveler, business owner, and entrepreneurial leader. With a diverse background in event production, music production, filmmaking, screenwriting, and arts-centered business development, Tucker's journey in the entertainment industry began in 2000 when he founded his first record label, Sungate Records, specializing in gospel music.

His passion for creating memorable experiences ignited when he produced his inaugural concert, setting the stage for a lifelong career in entertainment. Reflecting on that moment, Tucker recalls, "I felt fulfilled, I performed, people had a good time, lives were changed, I paid my team, and I walked away with $1,200. It gave me a high that I’ve been chasing ever since."

Over the years, Ray has managed three production studios, spearheaded the creation of two TV shows, produced movies, plays, and fashion shows, and provided invaluable support to numerous emerging artists. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to successfully manage a bar and lounge for eight years, where he curated locally-rooted, engaging events.

Driven by his passion for art and community, Tucker reinvested the proceeds from his events into purchasing the Hamilton-Tucker Art Gallery. Here, he continues to foster a business-driven, community-oriented approach to creative curation, a hallmark of his illustrious 20-plus-year career.

In addition to his ventures in the arts, Tucker is the proud owner of Pizzaman Pizza, located in Downtown Detroit and other locations. Notably, it stands as one of the first African-American-owned pizza franchises.
